A 26-year-old man, Omosun Odion, who allegedly assaulted his
neighbour’s daughter, by fingering her private part, was on Wednesday
arraigned in an Ikeja Magistrates’ court.
The accused, a driver, who lives at No. 8, Araromi St., Ikeja, is facing a charge of child assault.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Jimah Iseghede, told the court that the offence was committed on July 3 at the accused residence.
According to Iseghede, the accused called the victim, a 10-year-old girl, to his room under the pretence of sending her on an errand, removed her panties and fingered her private part.
“It was one of the neigbours who heard the victim’s cry that peeped through the window of the accused’s room and raised the alarm,” he said.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Tajudeen Elias, granted the accused bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum, and adjourned the case till Sept. 9 for mention.
