At least seven people were killed in an auto crash that occurred along the Odukpani axis of the Calabar-Ikom Highway in Cross River State on Thursday.
The Nation gathered that the victims were occupants of a bus heading out of the city, which collided with a truck that swerved onto its lane, probably attempting to avoid the several potholes dotting the road.
The situation caused a traffic jam that lasted several hours.
The deplorable state of the Calabar-Ikom-Obudu-Ogoja Highway had been the cause of several fatal accidents in the past weeks.
Several calls to relevant authorities by road users over the years, to work on the road had yielded no results.
